What we collect
When you visit this website
- No cookies, no analytics, no advertising and no third-party trackers or embedded scripts.
- Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes your IP address and request details to deliver the pages and may keep short-lived server logs for that purpose.
- If you join the waitlist, Buttondown (our email provider) receives the address you submit, and only then — the form isn't contacted on an ordinary page view.
Your Closet, inside the app
- Everything you add — Items, Outfits, Looks, Wears, Plans, Trips and Places — is stored on your device and synced only through your own iCloud account's private CloudKit database. It is never sent to us, and we cannot read it.
- Photos. The original photo you take of an Item, and the tinted Starter library images, stay in the app's own storage on that device only; they are not synced to iCloud or sent anywhere.
Weather
- Weather comes from Apple WeatherKit. If you allow location access, your approximate location (or a city you choose instead) is sent to Apple to fetch the forecast — never to us.
If you sign in
- Signing in is optional and uses Firebase Authentication with Apple or Google. A successful sign-in gives us your first name, email address and profile photo — nothing from your Closet.
- Your Closet is never tied to this Account; it stays in your iCloud whether or not you're signed in.
Analytics and crash reports
- Firebase Analytics records counts only — never Item names, photos or anything from your Closet.
- Firebase Crashlytics records crash reports to help us fix bugs, also without Item names or photos.
Purchases
- Scarfie Plus is a subscription purchased through the App Store (StoreKit) and tied to your Apple ID. Payment details go to Apple, never to us.
Who else processes it
- Apple — WeatherKit (forecasts), iCloud/CloudKit (Closet sync), the App Store/StoreKit (Scarfie Plus).
- Google (Firebase, a Google Cloud product) — Authentication, Analytics, Crashlytics, and Storage for your profile photo if you sign in.
- Buttondown — the email address you submit to join the waitlist.
- Cloudflare — hosts this website.
How long we keep it
Your Closet stays in your own iCloud until you delete it yourself; we have no copy to delete. If you sign in and later delete your Account from Profile, Scarfie revokes the sign-in token, deletes your profile photo from Firebase Storage, then deletes the Firebase user and your stored first name — your Closet is untouched, since it was never tied to the Account.
Your choices
- You can use the entire app without ever signing in.
- You can turn off location access in iOS Settings and pick a city instead.
- You can delete any Item, Outfit, Plan or Trip directly in the app at any time.
- You can delete your Account (if you signed in) from Profile, or write to hello@scarfie.app with any other request.
Children
Scarfie is not directed at children and we don't knowingly collect personal data from children.
