Scarfie tells you how much to layer for today's weather and recommends outfits from your own closet for each occasion — here's everything that goes into it.
01 · What to wear, today
What to wear, right now
Today's weather becomes one clear Layer Level, nudged over time by your own Comfort Offset — with a Recommendation for every Occasion you have today.
- Today's arc. Morning, Noon and Evening weather panels at the top of Today, the current part marked NOW and the coldest remaining part COLDEST.
- Layer phrase. A plain instruction instead of a number: No T-shirt time, T-shirt time, Put on a sweater, Take your coat, 3 layers for cosy time, Put on all you have.
- Comfort Offset. Feel colder, Normal or Feel warmer — nudges your Layer Level over time from feedback after a Wear, a quarter step per piece of feedback.
- Occasion. Work, Casual, Workout, Formal, Party, Festive, Travel, or one you define. A day always has at least one, and each gets its own Recommendation.
- Part of Day. Occasions are timed by Morning, Noon, Evening or All day — never by a specific hour.
- Routine. Your default Occasions for each weekday, each with its own Part of Day and Exposure.
- Exposure. Outdoor or Mostly indoors — decides whether an Outfit splits into layers kept on and layers taken off.
- Recommendation. An Outfit proposed for a given day and Occasion: preferably a saved Outfit, completed with whatever the weather needs.
- Swap. Replace any Item the app chose with another, from the Recommendation or the Canvas — Scarfie remembers your choice.
- Widget figure. The otter in your widget, dressed in one of six outfits — one per Layer Level, with a weather badge for rain, snow or a clear day.
- Plan. An Outfit chosen ahead of time for a future date and Occasion. On that day, it beats the Recommendation engine.
- Trips. A stay away from home between a start and an end date, with its own Occasions and a Pack list built from every day of it.
- Daily nudge. An optional notification summarising the day's Layer Level, weather and first Outfit, sent at the time you choose.
02 · Put together once
Full looks, ready to wear
Compose an Outfit on the Canvas, group them into a Look, or start from an Example Outfit built from the Starter library.
- The Canvas. Arrange Item cutouts by hand to compose an Outfit, then Auto-arrange to snap everything back to its automatic flat-lay spot.
- Example Outfits. Built from the Starter library and shown whenever your Closet can't fill a Recommendation. Wear, edit or save one and it becomes yours.
- Looks. Group Outfits under a name like "Work wear" or "Street fashion" — a Look organises, it never carries its own Occasion.
- Colour pairs. Mark an upper-and-bottom colour pairing Favourite or Avoid, and the Recommendation leans toward or away from it.
- Layer Role. Every piece knows its place — Base, Mid or Outer — so an Outfit layers the way it should.
- Outfit sheet. One sheet, opened from Today, the Plan tab, the Month view or a Trip day, to edit or swap an Outfit wherever you meet it.
03 · Your wardrobe
Everything you own, organised
Entirely yours, in your own iCloud. Scarfie never sees it, never shares it.
- Adding an Item. Photograph it, pull it from the Share Sheet, or pick a Starter library piece — all three become an ordinary Item you own.
- The Cutout. A cleaned, background-free image representing the Item everywhere in the app. The original photo never leaves the device that took it.
- Category & Subcategory. Top, Bottom, One-piece, Outerwear, Footwear, Accessory and more, down to a specific kind like T-shirt, hoodie, puffer or boots.
- Fabric & Warmth. Up to three fabrics per Item, suggesting a Warmth grade of Light, Medium or Warm, plus windproof and waterproof flags.
- Needs details. An Item saved with just its photo sits in its own list and isn't recommended until it has a Category.
- Cost per wear. Price divided by confirmed Wears, worked out fresh every time — never stored.
- Needs washing & Retired. A gentle reminder once an Item's worn its threshold, and a folded section for pieces you no longer wear — brought back any time.
- 100 free Items. A free Closet holds 100 active Items. Retired Items don't count, and nothing you've added is ever locked away.
- Scarfie Plus. Unlocks more than 100 active Items, and Trips. Planning future days is free. Weather is never part of it.
- Private by design. Your Closet lives in your own iCloud. Scarfie never sees it, never shares it, and the Account never holds it.
